Latiful Azam, Kishoreganj (Nilphamari): All educational institutions are already closed due to Corona. Lockdown is on now. People of all walks of life have become unemployed. Among them, there is a silent famine in the families of the teachers of Kindergarten School (KG) of Nilphamari Kishoreganj Upazila. Because their family lives on the students’ salary. They are in dire straits as no one has come forward to help these teachers from poor families.
It is learned that at least 900 teachers are employed in about 66 kindergarten schools (KGS) of Kishoreganj upazila. Most of these educational institutions are run on the monthly salary of the students. Teachers get salary allowance from the students’ money. With that, the teachers support the poor families.
But the salaries of the students are also closed due to the holidays of the institutions. Besides, private tuition of these teachers is closed. As a result, they are not able to earn from anywhere. Although the teachers of these institutions do not have money, they are respected in the society as teachers. As a result, they are struggling to make ends meet. On condition of anonymity on Saturday, some teachers said that they are managing the expenses of any family by teaching and teaching in KG schools. As a result, there is a shortage of financially indigent teachers in the family. Educated people can’t even tell anyone for fear of embarrassment. So the rich people of the government and society should try to understand our plight.
Professor Abdur Rouf, headmaster (retired) of Millennium Stars Academy School in Kishoreganj Upazila, said, “Our KG school teachers do not get any government benefits. At this moment of calamity, our teachers are still crying because there is no government or private support. I am appealing for government assistance to our teachers and staff in the ongoing. Kishoreganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Roxana Begum said, there is no official instruction to help the teachers of these institutions.
