Munayem Khan from Netrokona: Border Guard Bangladesh Netrokona Battalion (31 BGB) raided the area between Bharatpur and North Barmari areas on the Indian border in Durgapur upazila and seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian sarees worth Tk 25 lakh 11 thousand.
Netrokona Battalion (31 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. ASM Zakaria said in a press release sent to media persons around 1.30 pm on Wednesday that it was led by Md. Faridul Islam, Naib Subedar of Bharatpur BOP of Durgapur Sadar Union in Durgapur Upazila A 13-member team comprising of Bharatpur and Barmari BOP was patrolling the Bharatpur and Barmari border area around 1.45 pm on Tuesday.
Based on its own intelligence, the BGB patrol team raided the area between Bharatpur and Barmari areas and seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian sarees. Sensing the presence of BGB, the smugglers ran to the border area. Caesar’s value of the seized sarees is 25 lakh 11 thousand takas.
The seized goods were handed over to the Netrokona customs office on Wednesday afternoon.
