Srimangal (Moulvibazar) Correspondent: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Under-17 Football has been inaugurated at Srimangal in Moulvibazar.
The tournament was organized by the upazila administration and in collaboration with the sports department on Friday (May 28) afternoon at the local Victoria High School ground. The four-day tournament was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Assumed Accounts, Bir Muktijoddha Vice-Chairman. Md. Abdus Shahid MP.
Upazila Executive Officer Nazrul Islam was present at the opening ceremony, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) said. Nesar Uddin, Upazila Vice Chairman Premsagar Hajra, OC (Operations) Nayan Karkun, Victoria High School Headmaster Ayon Chowdhury, Municipality Panel Mayor Mir MA Salam, Satgaon Union Chairman Milon Shil, Upazila Youth Development Officer Asim Kumar Kar, General of Upazila Sports Organization Secretary Milon Das Gupta, former national footballer Ikram Rana, former footballer Piyush Dutta, MA Matin, general secretary of Srimangal Press Club Imam Hossain Sohel, president of Municipal Juba League Akbar Hossain Shahin and others. In the opening match, Satgaon Union defeated Srimangal Municipality by 3.0 goals.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazrul Islam said a total of 10 teams from Srimangal Municipality and 9 unions of the upazila will participate in the tournament. Each game of the tournament will be held in compliance with hygiene rules. The inaugural match was conducted by Bangladesh Football Federation referee Mizanur Rahman Mizan, assistant referee Abul Kashem, Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury, Md. Sirajul Islam Selu.
