Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chitra Shikari said, ‘Palm trees are very high and play an effective role in mitigating the damage caused by thunderstorms and natural disasters. Apart from this, there is no pair of palm trees to prevent soil erosion and maintain the balance of nature. I would like to thank Engineer Ataul Mahmud for implementing this program of planting palm seeds keeping in mind the growth and conservation of such beneficial trees. If everyone like him is enterprising, we will be able to deal with any disaster and the country will go a long way. ‘
