It is learned that the body of a man named Abdul Ahad (55) of Lama Shampur village of Fatehpur Union No. 5 in Jaintapur of Sylhet was recovered by the police around 8 am on Friday. While recovering the body, the man’s son Bilal Ahmed (38) and his nephew Machabbir (45) were arrested and taken to the police station. Then the police looting game started. After keeping them in police custody for hours, the police released the detainees in the business of lobbying some influential officials. The incident has caused a commotion in the local area.
According to local sources, Abdul Ahad had been arguing with his son Bilal over land issues for a long time. A source in the local village said that he may have been killed in the process. Bilal told police that his father’s body was hanging from a jackfruit tree next to his house. Later, his body was recovered from there and taken to his residence and the police was informed. Upon receiving the news, Jaintapur police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Talking to Jaintapur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Dastagir Ahmed on his mobile phone after receiving such information, he said, “People beat me and I will take legal action!” At that time he did not give any goodwill.
When contacted by mobile phone, the victim’s nephew Machabbir said he was mentally ill. Go to sleep in your room after Terabi prayers on Thursday night. Later in the night, he came out of the house and committed suicide by sweating around his neck with a jackfruit tree next to the house. On Friday morning, family members woke up and saw a camel with its body hanging from a tree. From there they recovered his body and took it to his home.
