BSMRSTU Correspondent: Ordinary students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology (BSMRSTU) have staged a human chain demanding immediate opening of halls and campuses in compliance with health rules. On 24 May (Monday) at 11:00 am, students participated in the presence of more than a hundred students on the street adjacent to the main gate of the university and holding various placards.
Students at the human chain said their educational lives have been disrupted and frustrated by the closure of halls and campuses for more than a year. Offices – courts, public transport, shopping malls have all been opened, so why aren’t educational institutions being opened? Ordinary students demanded to open educational institutions quickly without making excuses about educational institutions.
The students further said, “We want to participate in classes and exams directly from the class. Online comedy is no more. A humble request to the Hon’ble Prime Minister is to open the educational institution immediately. Or go to the movement later.”
Regarding the human chain, Dr. AQM Mahbub, Vice-Chancellor of BSMRSTU, said, “Students have the right to form a human chain to demand the opening of educational institutions. The university would have reopened if the second wave of corona virus had not arrived. However, I hope the government will soon take initiative to reopen the university by ensuring vaccination of students.
