Human chain and assembly demanding to name Lebukhali bridge after “Bahasa Shaheed Alauddin”

Kalapara (Patuakhali) Correspondent: At Lebukhali on Barisal-Patuakhali road A human chain and rally has been held at Kalapara in Patuakhali demanding renaming of the newly constructed bridge as ‘Shaheed Alauddin Bridge’.

Saturday The rally was organized by the Shaheed Alauddin Smriti Sangsad at Manohari Patri on Surendra Mohan Chowdhury Road at noon on September 11. Alauddin Smriti Sangsad Kalapara Upazila President SM Abul Hossain presided over the rally, Dhaka Agrani Former Principal of School and College Kalapara Upazila A’League Vice-President Dr. Shahidul Islam Biswas, Former General Secretary of Upazila A’League Md. Fazlur Rahman Sanu Sikder, Vice Chairman of Upazila Parishad and Organizing Secretary of Upazila A’League Md. Shafiqul Islam Babul, District Press Club Patuakhali General Secretary Md. Kawyum Uddin Jewel, Retired Lecturer Md. Rafiqul Islam, Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Khepupara Branch member teacher Amal Chandra Karmakar is prominent.

Speakers at the time said that Shahid Alauddin, a resident of Hajipur village in Nilganj union of Kalapara upazila, took part in a protest procession on January 26, 1989 at the call of Barisal District Student Struggle Council.

At that time Alauddin was in 10th class of AK School in Barisal There were students. At present, the speakers are seeking the intervention of the Prime Minister to demand that the newly constructed bridge at Lebukhali on the Barisal-Patuakhali road be named after Shaheed Alauddin. The program was conducted by the Communists of Bangladesh Comrade Nasir Talukder is the general secretary of Khepupara branch of the party. Atajul Islam, office secretary of the Shaheed Alauddin Smriti Sangsad, read out a memorandum sent to the Prime Minister at the end of the program.
