The fragile condition of the children’s ward on the 5th floor of the newly constructed 250-bed Sheikh Hasina Medical College is prevailing. Most of the fans in that ward are crippled. With the extreme heat and climate change, various diseases have hit children. The children who came to the hospital for treatment have become more ill as there is no fan in that ward. Besides, there are piles of garbage inside the ward and on the verandah but it has not been cleaned for a long time. Over 200 children have been admitted to the ward for diarrhea, diarrhea, pneumonia, cold and cough due to extreme heat over the past one week.
Visiting the ward yesterday, it was seen that there are about 20 fans in the children and diarrhea ward. Of these, only 15 fans are in critical condition. The relatives of the patient complained that these fans have been damaged for a long time. But even after repeatedly telling the authorities, no action is being taken. The caretaker of the hospital said, I have heard the matter. Action will be taken on an emergency basis by visiting the office on Monday.
