Government will not take responsibility for damaged customers in e-commerce: Commerce Minister

Rangpur Representative /

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that the government will not take responsibility for the customers affected by e-commerce.

He said there are at least 20,000 e-commerce companies in the country. Of these, 10/12 institutions have cheated. Consumers have suffered when they go to buy products at unusually low prices. Has the government asked them to buy the product? They did not inform the government when they went to buy less products. Why would the government take responsibility for their (customers’) losses? However, investigations are underway against e-commerce companies that have irregularities and corruption. The government is working to take legal action against them in the legal process.

He was speaking to reporters after inaugurating a commercial company called Diamond World in Rangpur on Friday (October 8th) afternoon.

The government wants e-commerce to do well. So far, 10-12 organizations have been accused of irregularities and corruption. Tipu Munshi said that action will be taken against them after investigation.

Regarding the increase in the price of onion, the Commerce Minister said that the price of onion has gone up in India due to rains. The price of onion has gone up in our country as well. If the price goes down in India, it will come down here too. Not just onions, the prices of many products in the world market have gone up. Therefore, the prices of all import dependent products including sugar and oil have also gone up in the country’s market. However, the market is being monitored so that no one can raise prices by creating an artificial crisis.

Also present on the occasion were FBCCI Vice President Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Metropolitan Awami League President Safiyar Rahman Safi, General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, District Chhatra League President Mehedi Hasan Rani and others.
