Dulal Mia, Sunamganj: Natural gas is suddenly erupting in the Kalma river behind the middle hut of Balia village in Pakikurati union of Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj. On Saturday morning, a local caught sight of a gas bubble and set it on fire out of curiosity. The residents of the river bank have become terrified by this. Shyamal Chandra Sarkar, a resident of Hati in the middle of Balia village, said, “The Kalma river has dried up behind his house. The boys and girls of the village are playing there. Someone sees bubbles rising from the river during the game. The matter is in the village.” It is learned that on Saturday morning, out of curiosity, they put a pipe in it and set it on fire with a match at the mouth of the pipe.
Paikurati Union Parishad Chairman. Ferdousur Rahman said, “Locals have been asked to stay away from the spot to avoid the accident and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer has been informed to take appropriate action in this regard.”
Upazila Executive Officer. Muntasir Hasan said, “I have heard the matter. However, the amount of gas is less. However, the OC of Dharmapasha police station has been directed to take appropriate measures to avoid the accident.”
