Four people were killed in two separate motorcycle accidents on the Dhaka-Sylhet old highway in Madhabpur. Two separate accidents took place on Sunday at Tin Bangla and Uttar Surma in Surma Tea Garden.
The deceased were killed in the accident, said Hajipur village of Chunarughat upazila. Mozammel Haque, 21, son of Abdul Haque, Ajay Roy, son of Gopal Roy of Manikpur village in Shahjibazar of Madhabpur upazila, Tarekul Islam, 25, son of Shahjahan Doctor of Teliapara Bazar of the upazila and Iftekhar Ahmed, 22, son of Abdul Jalil of Nandipara village in Baniachang upazila.
Goliam Mostafa, inspector in-charge of Teliapara police outpost, said the bodies of the four were recovered and sent to the morgue of Habiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Citing eyewitnesses, sources said Mozammel and Ajay Roy’s motorcycles collided head-on at a place called Tinbangla on the Dhaka-Sylhet old highway on Sunday afternoon. The two motorcycles then rolled over. Mozammel Haque died on the spot. Ajay Roy was rushed to Madhabpur Upazila Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead by doctors.
Four hours after the accident, Tareq and Iftekhar’s motorcycle collided head-on in the North Surma Bridge area of the Dhaka-Sylhet old highway. Iftekhar Ahmed died on the spot. Tareq was taken to Madhabpur Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
