Sylhet Bureau : People from all walks of life bid farewell to popular leader Dildar Hossain Selim, former MP of Jainta-Gowainghat and Companiganj Sylhet-4 constituencies and co-organizing secretary of BNP’s central executive committee, with tearful love.
He passed away after gaining fame as the architect of Sylhet 4 constituency development. His relations with people of all walks of life were distant. In a short time, he became known as the icon of all, regardless of party affiliation. No one can accept his death. There is mourning in all quarters now.
He was buried next to his parents’ grave in the family graveyard adjacent to Radhanagar Bazar Mosque after Janazah after Asr prayers on Friday (May 7). Thousands of people flocked to his janaza.
Earlier, separate janazas were held in Sylhet and Jaintapur. Hazrat Shahjalal Rah of Sylhet performed Janaza in the first prayer of late Dildar Hossain Selim after Jumma. Funeral service was held at Dargah Mosque premises and 2nd prayers at 3 pm at Darbast Central Jainta High School ground in Jaintapur upazila. Hafez Maulana Hozaifa Ahmad led the janaza prayers at the Dargah Mosque. Thousands of devotees from various political and professional organizations including BNP and Awami League were present at the janaza prayers.
Naeem Ahmed, son of late MP Dildar Hossain Selim, gave a short speech along with colleagues of various political parties and people’s representatives.
The veteran BNP leader died at a private hospital in Sylhet on Wednesday night. His funeral was held on Friday after the sons and daughters of the late Dildar Hossain Selim returned to the country two days after their deaths.
