Forest department operation in Cox’s Bazar 5 acres of forest land recovered

Tahjibul Anam, Cox’s Bazar: The forest department has carried out special operations in different areas of Khutakhali union in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar to evict illegal occupants of forest lands. At least 5 acres of forest land has been recovered.

The operation was carried out on Monday (March 29) in Jumnagar and Fulchhari areas under Fulchhari Range of Cox’s Bazar North Forest Department to evict illegal occupants in 10 hectares of forest land created during the second period of 2016-217. At least 50 illegal installations, large and small, have been dismantled in the operation. The names and addresses of those who set up illegal settlements were not found at the site but their names and addresses were handed over to the forest department authorities. Hossain, Rezaul Karim, son of Maulvi Mostafa, and Ehsan, son of Mia Hossain.

At the beginning of the operation, after receiving information that illegal sand was being extracted in Madhushia area of ​​Khutakhali Union, the abandoned sand lifting machine was recovered and destroyed in Madhushia river.

Cox’s Bazar Assistant Forest Conservator Mohammad Sohel Rana led the operation. Chakaria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tanvir Hossain, Fulchhari Range Officer Mazharul Islam and forest workers of Fulchhari Range along with staff and villagers of different ranges conducted the day-long operation.

Cox’s Bazar Assistant Forest Conservator Mohammad Sohail Rana said, “We are always working to protect the forest.” We will always continue our campaign against those who try to occupy the forest.
Md. Tahidul Islam, Divisional Forest Officer, Cox’s Bazar North Forest Department, said, “It is the moral responsibility of all of us to protect the forest land and forest resources.” But some vested interests are trying to increase their wealth by encroaching on forest resources and destroying social forestry. We will take legal action against them and the campaign against them will continue.
