Germany and Bayern legend Gard Muller has died. He died this morning in German time. Mueller was 75 years old at the time of his death.
Bayern Munich said in a statement: “Today, Bayern Munich and the whole world are stunned. The legendary German footballer died on Sunday morning at the age of 75. Muller has made history for Germany’s record champions Bayern Munich and the German national football team.
Muller has a unique record of 566 goals in 607 appearances for Bayern. He has scored 365 goals in the German league. He is the top scorer in the league seven times.
He has played 62 matches for the German national team. He has scored 68 goals. Muller was one of the key members of the German team that won the World Cup in 1974. In 1972, he won the Euro for Germany. He scored 14 goals in two World Cups (1970 and 1974). Germany won the title with a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the final of the World Cup. He had the winning goal of the match. Until the 2006 World Cup, he was the top scorer in the World Cup.
