Farmers demand innovation of new varieties of Paddy

Zaker ALi Shuva, Bureau Chief: The former Chairman of Nandalalpur Union in Kushtia Kumarkhali claimed to have invented a new variety of paddy.

He said that if this high yielding paddy reaches the farmers through the Government through the Paddy Research Institute, it can produce 25/30 maunds of paddy per bigha. Former chairman Nazrul Islam said he owns about 30 bighas of land near his house where he cultivates a variety of paddy and vegetables.

Abdur Razzak, who was working at his house for the last time last season, saw an unusual paddy tree while tending the paddy field and called him. He sees that there are innumerable paddy like dates with shrapnel. He kept the rare species of paddy separately and harvested the seedlings while harvesting the paddy.

Plant paddy in 10 kathas of land this year on the paddy that is available from the next year. In the stalks, innumerable paddy-like trees are planted on the ground. He further said that this rice will be thinner and more productive than the rice invented by Haripada Kapali in Jhenaidah in 1998.

He differentiated between two varieties of 49 paddy and rare varieties of paddy in different ways in terms of yield. This rice of rare variety is almost double that of 49 paddy. He said if he wants to take all his paddy from the Agricultural Extension Office to make the farmers smile, he will give it.

In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agriculturist Debashish Kumar Das said, “Paddy has been collected from Nazrul Islam and sent to the Paddy Research Institute.” If the test shows that this variety of paddy has not been cultivated in Bangladesh before, then the farmer will be evaluated and if it is high yielding, the farmers of Bangladesh will benefit a lot.
