Faridpur Inauguration of Urban Primary Health Care Services Delivery Project

Rabiul Hasan Rajib, Faridpur: The Urban Primary Health Care Project was launched in 1998 in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Rajshahi under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives to ensure health care for the poor. The project is jointly funded by the Government of Bangladesh, ADB (Asian Development Bank), Nordic, UNFP (United Nations Population Fund).
So far 4 health centers have been constructed in Faridpur municipality under the project. Among them, Nagar Matrisadan has been set up along the Brakshankanda bypass road in Ward 6, Nagar Health Center 1 in Parchar in Ward 3, Nagar Health Center 2 in Bhati Laxmipur in Ward 18 and Nagar Health Center 3 in Kamalapur in Ward 22.
The company has started its activities in Faridpur with the slogan “Safe motherhood is our pledge”.
Faridpur Municipality implemented the program on Tuesday, June 28 in the hall room of Faridpur Municipality under the management of Population Services and Training Center (PSTC).
Abul Fayez Md. Alauddin Khan, Joint Secretary-Project Director, UPHCSDP-II  addressed the function as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Municipal Mayor Amitabh Bose.
Md. Aslam Mollah, Deputy Director, Local Government Department and Md. Mozammel Haque, Deputy Director, Family Planning spoke as special guests.
The chief guest highlighted the overall activities of the project through a power point presentation.
It was informed on the occasion that the rainbow marked city maternity hospital and urban health center are for everyone. There will be a total of 17 g mmm types of medical services in three different categories. Maternal services, pediatric services and general medical services in the categories of maternity services, postpartum services, obstetric services, menstrual control services, abortion services, family planning services, neonatal and child health services, reproductive health services, adolescent health services, nutrition services, infectious diseases Control, non-communicable disease control, treatment of common diseases, health education, diagnostic services, violence against women and ambulance services will be provided.
