Amirul Kabir Suzan, Mithapukur (Rangpur): The upazila administration of Rangpur’s Mithapukur upazila has recovered government property worth around Tk 1 crore, which has been illegally occupied for a long time in Shalmara Bazar of Payraband union.
Mithapukur Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha conducted the eviction drive on Thursday (November 4th) afternoon.
According to the administration and locals, an influential group was illegally occupying government land in Shalmara Bazaar and building markets and 32 shops. The locals are in extreme distress. Unplanned construction of the market has narrowed the roads. That is why many people are victims of small and big accidents. After that the local people complained to the upazila administration about the suffering of the people.
Taking into account the issue of human suffering, the upazila administration demolished the illegal structures with bulldozers and recovered government resources in compliance with the administrative rules. The people of the local civil society have applauded the initiative of the administration in alleviating the suffering of the people.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha said activities are underway to recover illegally occupied government property in Mithapukur Upazila. The operation to recover illegally occupied government property will continue in phases.
