Every day traffic jams, suffering pedestrians

Harun or rashid, Jaldhaka (Nilphamari): Jaldhaka municipality of Nilphamari is now in traffic jam As a result, it has become a city and the suffering of the people is constantly increasing. From the three land ports of Burimari, Chilahati and Banglabanda, thousands of vehicles ply daily from Domar, Dimla, Panchagarh and Thakurgaon to various parts of the southern part of the country.

Rickshaws / vans and autorickshaws are parked on both sides of the important roads of Jaldhaka municipal city and shops are being set up on the sidewalks, causing traffic jams on the roads. Even pedestrians are suffering due to this.

According to the locals, most of the people in the area live below the poverty line and have resorted to rickshaws / vans, easybikes and autorickshaws as a means of livelihood. Many of them are sitting on both sides of the road with fruits and vegetables and small shops.

There is no parking facility or any specific autovan stand, so there is always traffic jam,specially in the evening, the main road is filled with long-distance buses and the traffic police have to work hard to handle it. This image goes on till night.Pedestrians Abdul Latif, Badshah and Hasan Siddiqui said that, the Domar- Dimla and Dalia road passing through Jaldhaka municipality is narrow and rickshaws and autorickshaws are parked on both sides of the road in the city for a long time.

In addition, small and big potholes have been created in the city roads and pedestrians are admitting accidents every day. Highlighting the infrastructural problems, Monirul Alam, in-charge of the traffic police, said, “According to the situation here, our manpower is in crisis.” As there are no sidewalks for people to move in this city, cars, rickshaws and people have to use the same road.In addition, small and big potholes have been created in the city roads and pedestrians are admitting accidents every day.

Highlighting the infrastructural problems, Monirul Alam, in-charge of the traffic police, said, “According to the situation here, our manpower is in crisis.” As there is no footpath for people to move in this city, cars, rickshaws and people have to use the same road. There is also a lack of space to keep night coaches. If there was a fixed parking system, there would not be such a traffic jam.

Referring to the traffic congestion reduction and urban development plan, Mayor Ilias Hossain Bablu said that, as part of the development, there is a plan to build bypass roads, drainage system to remove waterlogging and talk to the sidewalk and market development committee. This problem will be solved quickly if allocated.
