Arun Sarkar, Bureau Chief Sylhet: The earthquake was felt in Sylhet. The quake was felt five times in a row from 10:26 am to 2 pm on Saturday. However, no untoward incident was reported anywhere. The maximum magnitude of the tremor was 4.1 on the Richter scale in four places. There are also 4, 3 and 2 decimal 8 levels. Which originated in Jaintapur upazila of northeastern Sylhet in Bangladesh. At this time panic spread among the locals.
Muminul Islam, a senior meteorologist at the Dhaka Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observatory, confirmed the incident. Meteorologists and experts say there are usually mild tremors before or after a major earthquake. No such earthquake has been felt in Sylhet before. However, the Sylhet region has been at risk of earthquakes for a long time. Meanwhile, meteorologist Muminul Islam said, “Everyone should be careful as Sylhet region is prone to earthquakes.”
