DB’s Sarashi operation under the direction of SP: CNG rescued, detained 2

Jewel Chowdhury, Habiganj Representative:

Various vehicles including CNG autorickshaws, battery-powered tomtoms and motorcycles are being stolen from different places in Habiganj district. In the blink of an eye, a group of thieves is going to wind up with these vehicles. These vehicles are being stolen especially from populated areas including hospitals and court areas. And in this syndicate there are members of inter-district thieves. They have the master key. With which the gang of thieves fled with the vehicles. Law enforcement, however, conducted a search operation and arrested the members of the syndicate, recovered the goods and sent them to court. But after a while, they came out through the loopholes of the law and got involved in the same misdeeds again. There is no way to suppress them. On Sunday night, on the instructions of Habiganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ullah, a team of police including DB OC Mohammad Al Amin raided the Pool No. 2 area of the city and recovered a stolen CNG. At that time, two members of the gang were arrested. The arrested are Sohag Khan, 25, son of Altab Miah of Noagaon village in Shayestaganj upazila and Al Amin Mollah, 2৬, son of Ledu Mollah of Bakharnagar village in Madhabpur upazila. According to them, a stolen CNG was recovered.

Recently, RAB arrested Abu Taleb alias Langra Taleb, the second-in-command of the ring, and several of his associates and recovered several CNGs from them. But even then his cronies are stealing vehicles including CNG.

It is learned that on June 4, Abdul Jalil Bachchu, son of Abdul Awal of Mirzapur village in Madhabpur upazila, was on his way to Noapara Bazar in a CNG autorickshaw when a group of 6-7 people snatched CNG. He lodged a complaint with Madhabpur police station. Later, DB police conducted an operation and recovered CNG.

DB OC Al Amin said the detainees had initially admitted their involvement in the incident and police were continuing their operation to nab others in the ring. They will be remanded and more information will be revealed.
