Amirul Kabir Sujan. Mithapukur (Rangpur): In Rangpur’s Mithapukur, a man has been accused of harassing ordinary people by posing as a journalist. The locals have become restless during his visit. Not only that, he unjustly demanded money from people for fear of publishing news in newspapers. There are even allegations that the administration has been harassing the villagers by using the identity of a journalist. The locals have organized a human chain to demand the punishment of the journalist. The human chain program was celebrated in Paikan village of the upazila on Friday afternoon. The name of the person who introduced himself as a journalist is Kamruzzaman Milon. He died in Paikan village of Latibpur union of the upazila. Son of Abdus Salam.

Local villagers Saju Mia, Tajnuri Begum, Shanin Mia, Akmal Hossain and others spoke in the human chain. Locals who took part in the human chain complained that Kamruzzaman Milon, who identified himself as a journalist, went to different areas and appeared in groups in a rented car with cameras to intimidate people. He then took some pictures of the target person and the surrounding area in different areas and demanded large sums of money threatening various damages. Otherwise, he threatened to publish the news. He carries the identity cards of various media outlets. He is accompanied by a few other Sangpangs.

Whatever is earned in a day – they share that money among themselves.The human chain activists said that this fake journalist clique has been cheating in different areas of the upazila for a long time. The people have become impatient with their violence. Eventually, the locals chained him to get relief from his violence. He made false allegations against the villagers, citing road closures and other issues. The journalist is harassing the villagers by using his identity to influence the police. In fact, a few people from ancestral sources have sold four hundred acres of land. After selling, they have cut down the trees of their land and handed over the land to the buyer.

A land near the house of Kamruzzaman Milon was inherited by 9 people including Alam, Abu Bakr, Harun, Ziarul, Rashed, Rmosheda, Shaheda. They then asked Kamruzzaman Milon and his family to buy the land more than once. After that, Milon used to spend time today and tomorrow. Later, the landowners could not resolve the issue more than once with a large number of people including the local chairman members. Eventually they sold four hundred acres of land to them in the name of Dulal Miah’s son Raihan Miah and his wife Munjura Akter Nupur. Kamruzzaman then obstructed Raihan when he went to build a house on the land. Journalists are using their identities to harass them through the police as well as threatening them in various ways. The locals are restless in his activities. To get relief from his harassment, the victims are chained.

Accused Kamruzzaman Milon said he did not harass anyone. Those who have done human chain are my opponents. ‘He added,’ I do journalism. Special correspondent of online news portal and TV channel Seven BD. But I did not threaten or intimidate anyone in this identity. I did not demand money from anyone. That is a false accusation. ”

Rangpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (D Circle, Mithapukur and Pirganj) Kamruzzaman said, “I have visited the spot. The allegation made by a man named Milon against the villagers is not correct. The complaint has been dismissed. And no one has complained about the harassment and extortion of people in different places as a journalist. He also said that action will be taken after investigation if any complaint is made.
