Barguna Correspondent: It has been alleged that Halim Khan, Ali Khan and Azim Khan forcibly built houses and planted trees on the basis of the night while occupying the land. Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and recovered the construction materials and left them in the custody of a local teacher. The incident took place on Friday night on Wabda Road in West Kalibari area of Amtali municipal town.
It has been reported that for the last one hundred years, Rezaul Karim Khan and his family members have been occupying 57 per cent of one acre of 35 khatian land of Ghatkhali mouza adjacent to Wabda road in West Kalibari area of Amtali municipal town. Halim Khan, Ali Khan and Azim Khan claimed the land three months ago. On Friday night, the three brothers, with the help of more than half a hundred people, built tin sheds and planted trees to occupy the land. When Rezaul Karim Khan was tied up, they chased him with sharp weapons. Rezaul Karim Khan claims that when Rezaul Karim Khan took refuge in his house for fear of them, Halim Khan and his men kept him in the house.
Helpless, he informed the Amtali police station. Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot. Sensing the presence of police, they fled. Police later recovered the house construction materials and left them in the custody of local Shafiq Master. Rezaul Khan lodged a complaint at Amtali police station on Saturday Md. Rezaul Khan, the owner of the land, complained that he had been occupying his grandfather’s property for the last one hundred years. Halim Khan, Ali Khan and Azim Khan with more than half a hundred people have built houses and planted trees at night to occupy the land.
He added that Halim Khan had filed a case in the Barguna court to rectify the record but had built a house on the land for fear of losing the case. “They chased me with sharp weapons when I stopped building houses,” he added. I have no shelter in the house for fear of them. They built the house by keeping me in the house. I want justice for this incident. Ali Khan said he denied building houses on the land, saying he knew nothing about it. However, I have tried to resolve both sides.
But no one listens to me. When Halim Khan was contacted on his mobile phone, his daughter Nadia Khanam received the call but disconnected the phone after getting the identity of the journalist. Amtali Police Station SI Shahidul Alam said, “I went to the spot and recovered the building materials and left them in the custody of local Shafiqul Islam Master.” Amtali Police Station OC (Investigation) Ranjit Kumar Sarkar said, “I have received the complaint.” Legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
