Md.IbrahimBabu, Nachol (Chapainawabganj): Taimur and Idris Ali, sons of Naimuddin, and Abdul Khaleq, son of the late Afsar Ali, blocked the government road and built houses in the khas khatian of the Kasba mouza of Kasba union in Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj. As a result, 50 families from Hatkhola to Vijay Karmakar’s house in the village have been blocked and paddy farmers of about 500 bighas of land in the area have had to bear the brunt. On 21/3/2018 and 5/11/2019 on behalf of 50 beleagured families of Kasba village, the petition signed by 50 people including Nurul Islam son of late Idris Ali and Masud Rana son of Abdus Sattar evicted houses built on government road along Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Chapainawabganj.
Submitted for the recovery of government roads. After receiving the application, the Additional Deputy Commissioner immediately directed the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nachol to take necessary action. In this context, on 22/3/2018, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer R / 117 asked Smar to submit a report to the Kasba Union Land Assistant Officer on the measures taken after investigation. In this context, Kasba Union Land Assistant Officer submitted the on-the-spot investigation report to Smar No. R / 359 dated 18/4/2018. But despite the submission of the report for mysterious reasons, the government road has not been cleared by evicting the houses built by blocking the road till date.
As the road was closed due to construction of houses on the government road from Hatkhola to Vijay Karmakar’s house in Kasba village, the farmers had to cultivate about 500 bighas of land in that village. The angry people of 50 families of Kasba village said that despite two appeals to the additional deputy commissioner, the necessary steps were not taken to evict the occupants of the road. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Khadija Begum said that it was not possible to implement the order of Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahaday as there was a lockdown in the country during the Corona period. However, if the situation in Corona is normal, necessary steps will be taken to clear the road.
Azizur Rahman, chairman of Kasba Union Parishad and general secretary of Kasba Union Awami League, said their issue was stuck for Corona. Abdul Khaleq, son of the late Afsar Ali, a house builder on the street, said, “I built the house about 15 years ago.” If the administration has the power, let me demolish my house. Khareq’s son Ashraful said he would close the empty space except the side of the house, if possible the villagers should block the road. Rezaul, the son of Taimur, the owner of a house built on the street, said he would demolish the house if he received a government order. Idris Ali, the owner of the other house, said that no one stopped him while constructing the house. Now the alternative road is closed so today there is talk of demolishing the house. If possible, let the government demolish the house.
