Chattogram Correspondent : A 12-storey building has been constructed with the approval of a six-storey building in Chittagong city under Khulshi police station. Residents of the area are at risk due to the building located on a hill.
A complaint was lodged with the Chittagong Development Authority (Chowk) but no action was taken. The court took cognizance of the matter when a case was filed in the Special Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court at Chowk last Tuesday.
.Judge Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury ordered the defendants to appear in court.
The matter was announced in the media on Wednesday.
.According to case sources, a real estate company called Sanmar Properties Limited is constructing a 12-storey building at Plot No. 109 / C of Imperial Hill under Khulshi Police Station. It is located on Road No. 4 in North Khulshi residential area.
Neighbor of the building under construction on Tuesday. Shahabuddin Alam filed a petition in the Chowk court.
It is mentioned that 10-12 feet wide road is not allowed from more squares of 6 storey building. .But the company is constructing a 12-storey building without the knowledge of the concerned authorities. Due to the construction of multi-storied buildings on the upper part of the hill slopes, there is a possibility of damage due to landslides, earthquakes and any other natural calamity. .As a result, the owners of at least 12 plots in the vicinity are likely to face losses.
In this context,
Advocate. Yassin Arafat Sajjad told the Daily Morning Glory that a 6-storey front was being built, but a 12-storey housing was being built at the back. .This violates Section 12 of the Building Construction Act 1952 and Section 44 of the CDA Act 2018.
The defendants in the case are M Masuk Haque, chairman and managing director of Sanmar Properties Limited, Selim bin Saleh, project manager, Safiqur Rahman, project director and Md. Mainul Haque.
The court summoned the defendants to appear.
Earlier, on September 21 last year, Mohammad complained to Chowk. Shahabuddin Alam. Chowk did not take any action even after that allegation. Later, he lodged a GD with Khulshi police station on April 29 for fear of landslides
