Sylhet Correspondent: A Chinese national has been killed in Sylhet. The 48-year-old Chinese national was stabbed to death in Pathantula. He was stabbed to death by another citizen of his country on Tuesday (May 18th) morning. Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Abu Farhad of Sylhet Metropolitan Police said the deceased Shanji was working at Kumargaon Power Station under Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet.
According to police sources, 12 Chinese nationals working at Kumargaon Power Station under Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet live on the fifth floor of house No. 11/9 in Block B, West Pathantula Residential Area under Kotwali Police Station, Sylhet. When everyone left for work around 8 am on Tuesday, the two stayed in the flat. Later, the people of the other flat in the building heard the sound of fighting in the flat rented by the Chinese nationals and informed the police.
The police entered the flat and recovered the body of the deceased. Police also said that there was a stab wound in the middle of his chest. There are also signs of multiple stab wounds on the body of another Chinese national. He was rescued by the police. Two knives were recovered from the flat at that time.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station Abu Farhad said one of them stabbed the other due to trouble. Police recovered the body of Shanji, 48, from the spot and injured another. He has stab wounds in several places on his body. The OC said the Chinese national, identified as Shaw, who was rescued in an injured condition, was first treated at Ragir Rabeya Medical College and then taken to Osmani Hospital. Meanwhile, legal action is being taken against the culprits involved in the murder, he said.
