BNP executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury has been released on bail by the high court after spending two and a half months in jail.
His father, advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, said he was released from the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on Friday afternoon.
At that time, the leaders and workers of the party welcomed him with flowers in front of the Keraniganj jail. Then he left for home.
On June 16, a High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafeez and Justice Muhammad Ali granted bail to Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury. On March 18, detectives arrested Nipun Roy Chowdhury from his home in Rayer Bazar. He was later arrested at Hazaribagh police station on charges of sabotage and arson. He was also arrested at Jatrabari police station in another case on charges of illegal assembly, serious injury and attempted murder. He was also remanded in two cases in these two cases.
Supreme Court lawyer Nipun is the daughter-in-law of BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. His father Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury is the vice chairman of the party.
Earlier, on November 15, 2019, Nipun Roy Chowdhury was arrested by the police. At that time he was imprisoned for more than two and a half months.
