Leaders of professional organizations have advised the BNP to take to the field to demand a one-point neutral government during the elections. A closed-door meeting of the party’s top leadership was held with the leaders of various professional organizations at the BNP chairperson’s political office at Gulshan in the capital on Friday afternoon. It is learned that the professional leaders have promised to take active part in the meeting if they demand a one-point program.
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman joined the meeting via video conference from London. The meeting was chaired by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Selima Rahman.
It is learned that BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke at the beginning of the meeting. He said the crisis of democracy in the country. It is very important to get everyone’s opinion in overcoming this situation.
According to a source present at the meeting, the leaders of various professional organizations have said that the only demand to bring down the government is elections under a non-partisan neutral government. To this end, we have to launch a one-point movement with a strong resolve. No further claims are required. Because, when more demands are added, the original claim becomes weaker. The BNP will have to lead this movement.
The Ziaur Rahman Foundation, the Lawyers ‘Forum, Doctors’ Association, the Engineers Association, ayagrikalacara Association, medical staff Alliance, Supreme Court lawyer Forum, Dhaka Bar Association, MBA Association, Diploma Engineers Association, Diploma ayagrikalacara Association, Nurses Association, Textile Association, a nationalist cultural jotasaha Leaders of 20 professional organizations took part in the meeting.
Among the leaders of the professional organization were Joynal Abedin, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Ahmed Azam Khan, Fazlur Rahman, Professor Farhad Dalim, Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Masud Ahmed Talukder, Ruhul Quddus Kajal, Taimur Alam Khandaker, Ragib Rouf Chowdhury, Professor Harun Al Rashid, Dr. . Abdus Salam, Dr. Abdus Selim, Dr. Sirajul Islam, Dr. Shafiqul Haider, Engineer Mahbub Alam, Reazul Islam, Selim Bhuiyan, Shamimur Rahman, Gazi Kamrul Islam, agriculturist Rashidul Hasan, GKM Mostafizur Rahman and Professor Golam Hafeez.
Earlier, the top leadership of the BNP held an exchange of views with the leaders of different levels of the party in two phases on September 14-16 and September 21-23. During the six-day meeting, the leaders advised the BNP not to contest the elections under the present government. At the same time, they agreed to announce the program of the movement for holding the next parliamentary elections under a non-partisan government. Following the meeting, the party has started discussions with the professionals.
According to party sources, the acting chairman of the BNP is holding a meeting with the professionals to get their views on the way forward. There are also meetings with professionals today, Saturday. Leaders of 32 professional organizations will take part in the two days.
