Bangabandhu was uncompromising on the question of Bengali rights, Professor. Mahbub Hossain Mehedi

Maherabbin Sunvi, Chuadanga: The 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been observed in Chuadanga with deep mourning and respect. All the martyrs of August 15, 1975 including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib have been remembered with respect and love in various programs throughout the day. On the occasion of the day, wreath-laying, virtual discussion meeting, prayer and milad mahfil were held at the initiative of Chuadanga District Awami League.

The national flag, black mourning and party flags were hoisted at Banalata Bhaban on Chuadanga Sadar Hospital Road at 8 am on Sunday and a wreath was laid at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, a virtual discussion meeting on hygiene was held to prevent coronavirus infection.

Former Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Chuadanga District Unit Bir Muktijoddha Abu Hossain presided over the discussion and was present as the chief guest. Chuadanga District Awami League Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Mahbub Hossain Mehedi.

Speaking as the chief guest, Bir Chuadanga District Awami League Health and Family Welfare Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Professor Dr. Mahbub Hossain Mehedi said, August 15 is a day of terrible sadness not only in Bangladesh but also for conscientious people all over the world. The verdict of the murder of the father of the nation has been executed. Who was behind the murder plot will also come out one day. He said that even though the murderous clique killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, his dreams and ideals could not be killed. Anti-independence communal groups and anti-development and anti-democracy circles must always be ready to deal with any conspiracy.

Heroic freedom fighter Professor. Mahbub Hossain Mehedi further said that Bangabandhu was uncompromising on the issue of rights of Bengalis. After a long ups and downs, this great leader, ignoring the bloody eyes of the then Pakistani ruling class, on March 7, 1971, thunderously declared to millions of people on the racecourse ground, ‘This time the struggle is for our liberation, this time the struggle is for freedom’.

Following this, he declared the independence of Bangladesh on March 26, 1971 and under his leadership we achieved victory through a long 9-month armed liberation war. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh have become one entity today. The assassins killed the father of the nation but could not erase his principles and ideals. As long as Bangladesh exists, the name of the Father of the Nation will remain immortal in the hearts of millions of Bengalis of this country.

The country’s best physician Professor. Mahbub Hossain Mehedi further said that Bangabandhu has struggled all his life for political independence as well as economic liberation of the people. His dream was to establish ‘Sonar Bangla’ free from hunger and poverty. Therefore, our responsibility will be to make Bangladesh a happy and prosperous country by enriching it with knowledge and completing the unfinished work of Bangabandhu. Only then will due respect be shown to this great leader.

Meanwhile, a prayer and milad mahfil was organized at Banalata Bhaban after Zohar in memory of all the martyrs of August 15, 1975, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib. Organizing Secretary of District Workers League Bir Muktijoddha Sirajul Islam, Legal Secretary of District Krishak League Abdul Khaleq and leaders and workers of Awami League, Swechchhasebak League, Krishka League, Juba League and Chhatra League were present at the event.
