A discussion meeting was held at the Abbas Ali Khan Memorial Auditorium on the third floor of Netrokona Municipality on Thursday morning at the initiative of Netrokona District Branch of Bangladesh National Tuberculosis Prevention Association (Natab), the country’s largest national voluntary organization.
Netrokona Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Selim Mia, Mayor of the Municipality Alhaj Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr. Shafiquzzaman Masum, Panel Mayor-1 SM Mohsin Alam, District Press Club General Secretary M. Mukhlesur Rahman Khan, National Tuberculosis Prevention Society (NATAB) Co-ordinator Md. Kamaruzzan, National Tuberculosis Prevention Society (NATAB) Netrokona District Branch General Secretary Tofail Islam Shahin, BRAC representative Shahaj Uddin and others. Thirty members of the civil society including all the councilors of Netrokona Municipality were present at the time.
BRAC representative Shahaj Uddin said 369 patients were X-rayed at Netrokona Sadar in May, out of which 90 were F-normal, 172 were gene experts, 35 were positive and 3 were MDR.
Dr. Md. Selim Mia, Civil Surgeon on TB and TB diseases, symptoms and treatment said- Now is the time to make a commitment to build a TB free Bangladesh. Social prejudice, ignorance and neglect of TB and TB patients cannot be ignored. TB and tuberculosis patients can be cured through regular, moderate, prescribed medication and within a short period of time with the necessary treatment.
