Abdullah Al Mamun, Chapainawabganj: A court has sentenced a 31-year-old man named Zahir to life imprisonment in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act in Chapainawabganj. He was also sentenced to three months imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 10,000.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md. Robiul Islam pronounced the sentence in the presence of the accused on Thursday (May 19). Zahir is the son of late Ashraful of Charbagdanga Goraipara village in Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj.
Prosecution lawyer Anjuman Ara said that Zahir was arrested on September 22, 2018 in Kharibona village of Sundarpur union with 1 Kg 125 grams of heroin. On the same day, RAB Sub-Inspector (SI) Firoz Ahmed filed a case with the Sadar Police Station. The investigating officer of the case, the then sub-inspector Osman Gani, filed a chargesheet against Zahir on October 20, 2018.
