A defamation suit has been filed in a court in Jaintapur, Sylhet, alleging misappropriation of land by influential people of the upazila and presenting false news on social media and various YouTube channels.
According to the complaint, the accused lodged a written complaint with the Jaintapur police station to recover the land due to embezzlement by the influential person and the next day the complainant presented false news on social media and various YouTube channels.
On the other hand, in the year 2020, the complainant father died in a road accident. On May 25, his uncle and cousin teamed up with the other accused to expropriate the land left by his father and published videos on social media and various YouTube channels alleging obscene speech and anti-social behavior. Which I do to the dignity of the unmarried daughter. The issue involved suicide by propaganda by uncles and cousins through various means. The fatherless family has been unable to move around the area since the live video broadcast.
In the wake of the incident, Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate Amli Court No. 6 in Sylhet on June 2, according to Section 500/501 of the Penal Code, Moina Mia (50), son of late Abbas Mia of Purbagardana village in Darbast Union Abdur Rakib, 40, son of late Rashid Miah, Riaz Ahmed, 25, son of late Samsul Islam, Ashaddar Ali, 60, son of late Yusuf Ali, Shoaib Ahmed, 35, son of Nizam Uddin of Nizpat Ujaninagar village, Hasan, son of Azad driver of Nizpat Mahuthati village Md. Badrul (32) lodged a written complaint against the driver.
According to the complaint, the deceased Nurul Haque Dumai Mia of Purba Gordana village of the upazila became the owner of 10 bighas of land at JL No. 126, No. 434 of Ruhilakandi Haor Mouza of Jaintapur Upazila. After his death, the land was confiscated by the plaintiff’s uncle and cousin. The plaintiff forcibly cut the paddy grown on the land at his own expense. He discredited my family and my family through live broadcasts by spreading false and baseless information with the help of some YouTubers by keeping the local journalists away from covering up the matter. The YouTubers did not mention any of our statements or land issues in their campaign.
On the other hand, the plaintiff lodged a written complaint with Jaintapur Model Police Station more than once and filed a written complaint in a wise court without getting legal help. Taking into account the written complaint of the plaintiff, the Hon’ble Court directed the Jaintapur Model Police Station to investigate and take up the case expeditiously.
Officer-in-charge of Jaintapur Model Police Station Golam Dastagir Ahmed told reporters that a complaint has been lodged with my office by the court. I have appointed officers for investigation. The plaintiff had earlier lodged multiple complaints with the police which were not enforceable.
