A child named Jannat Akhter Arifa (6) died after falling bricks from a six-storey building under construction in Kanthalbagan area of Dhaka’s Kalabagan Police Station. The accident happened on Sunday (October 3) morning. He is a resident of Nabiganj upazila.
Kalabagan police sub-inspector (SI) Tahmina Rahman confirmed the matter, saying a child fell to his death from a six-storey building while playing in front of a house in the Kanthalbagan area. Later we got the news and went to the spot and recovered the body. He said construction work was going on on the sixth floor of the building.
He added that after the legal process, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Attempts are being made to know the details in this regard. Details will be known after receiving the autopsy report, he said.
Mamun, the father of the deceased child, said that my daughter was playing in front of the house in the morning. At that time a brick fell from the sixth floor of the house on my daughter’s head. He died on the spot. Later the police came and recovered the body and sent it to the morgue. He said he worked as a security guard at the house.
He further said, our village home is in Kurainna village of Nabiganj upazila. At present he used to live with his family in that house in Kanthalbagan area.
