Abdullah Al Mamun, Chapainawabganj: Six police officers have been awarded in recognition of the revelation of the main mystery of the robbery case in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj, arrest of the accused and recovery of looted goods. Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General Abdul Baten handed over cash and certificates to them at the Padma Conference Hall of the Rajshahi Range DIG’s office on Sunday afternoon.
Rajshahi Range Additional DIG (Administration and Finance) Joydev Kumar Bhadra, (Operations and Crime) TM Mozahidul Islam, Chapainawabganj Superintendent of Police AHM Abdur Rakib and other senior officials of Rajshahi Range were present on the occasion.
The awardees are: Chapainawabganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) SAM Fazal-e-Khuda Palash, Bholahat Police Station OC Mahbubur Rahman, District Detective Police SI Mashiur Rahman, Asgar Ali, Anup Kumar Sarkar and Ariful Islam.
It may be mentioned that on August 23, a robbery took place on three Dhaka-bound buses from Bholahat in Chapainawabganj. The robbers vandalized the front of the bus with sticks and hammers, beat the passengers inside and snatched cash and gold ornaments. The robbers fled when police arrived at the scene before the last bus was hijacked.
After the incident, the police started an operation to arrest the robbers and recover their belongings. Arrested several people, including the main culprit involved in the robbery. Police recovered stolen mobile phones, gold ornaments and cash from the detainees.
