Azam Rehman: Three passengers of an autorickshaw were killed when a truck overturned on the Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway. At least four people were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Panchagarh highway near the Sadar Upazila board office at 2pm on July 15.
The deceased were identified as Mostafa Kamal, 40, Chanchal, 38, of Kachubari area and another unidentified man.
Witnesses said a truck coming from Panchagarh to Thakurgaon collided head-on with an autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction on the Dhaka-Panchagarh highway adjacent to the upazila board office on Thursday. Two autorickshaw passengers were killed on the spot. They are Chanchal (36) of Kachubari area and another unidentified person. 5 people were injured at that time. Later, locals and a team of fire service rescued them and admitted them to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital. Mostafa Kamal (40) of Kachubari area died while undergoing treatment there.
Residential Officer (RMO) of Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital Rakibul Alam Choyan said the condition of the injured was critical. Efforts are being made to save them.
Thakurgaon Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanvirul Islam has admitted that three people were killed in a road accident.
