Three companies have been fined in the operation of the Department of Consumer Protection in Moulvibazar’s Baralekha. On Saturday (October 23) from morning till noon, market surveillance and operations were conducted in the southern market of Baralekha to control the prices of daily necessities and to enforce the Consumer Rights Act.
The market surveillance and operations were conducted under the leadership of Md. Al-Amin, Assistant Director, Moulvibazar District Office, Department of Consumer Protection and in collaboration with Baralekha Thana Police. During this time 3 companies were fined for various irregularities. The accused companies were fined Tk 10,000 for Holy Life Specialized Hospital in Dakshin Bazar, Tk 3,000 for Rasmela Foot Products in Sattar Mansion and Tk 3,000 for Taste & Co. in Dewanshah Market.
Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer Protection. Al-Amin said three companies were fined a total of Tk 16,000 for various irregularities. Traders are instructed to sell daily necessities including fish meat at proper weight and fair price. Supervision activities of the Department of Consumer Protection will continue to ensure the availability of daily necessities at a fair price.
