In Chunarughat of Habiganj district, the task force recovered 2,500 kg of tea leaves in 53 sacks without legal invoices and VAT. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone involved. There have been regular cases in this regard. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Milton Chandra Pal gave the information on Friday (September 17) morning.
Earlier on Thursday (September 17) at around 10 pm in the Chandpur slum and Rahmatabad village of Chunarughat upazila, a joint task force of police, BGB and executive magistrate conducted the operation.
At that time, about 2500 kg of tea leaves were seized from two houses in the area in 53 sacks including legal invoices and VAT-free and Indian sacks.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Milton Chandra Pal said some of the seized tea leaves had Indian inscriptions on them. A regular case has been registered at Chunarughat police station as the seized tea leaves are without legal invoice and VAT. Necessary steps will be taken after examining the matter.
