It is not the job of a government official to elect someone – Energy Advisor

Billal Hossain, Jamalpur
It is not the job of a government official to elect someone. It is the job of a government official to work with the person who will be elected, the person the people will elect. “The reckoning will happen, both in this world and in the hereafter,” said Muhammad Fawzul Kabir, advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and the Ministry of Railways.
He made this statement as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting with government officials and stakeholders at the conference room of the Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday morning. At that time, the advisor said, “It is not the job of a government official to elect someone. It is the job of a government official to work with whoever gets elected, whoever the people elect.”
We hope that through the combined efforts of all of us, we will give a beautiful election. We do not know who will come, but we will welcome whoever comes, we will work with whoever comes. Addressing young officials, he said, “Please don’t ruin your career by being kind.” There will be a reckoning, not only in the afterlife, but also in our present life. We can see that there will be a reckoning in this present life. Therefore, keeping in mind the present and the hereafter, please ensure that the upcoming elections are fair. So that there is no violence, so that people can vote safely, vote for the candidate of their choice. That is why we will all work together.
Regarding the election, Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir also said that all government officials in charge of the famous Laylatul election have been removed. All those who were in the law enforcement forces during that election have also been removed. The upcoming elections are a difficult responsibility, a difficult ordeal for the nation. If this responsibility is not carried out properly, then the same consequences as Election Commissioner Nurul Huda and the previous DCs and SPs may occur.
He said, “It is not the job of government officials to determine who will win the election and who will not. We have to work for whoever wins from now on.” This is a completely wrong idea. This election is different, a completely different election. Maybe because everyone knows that the EC will decide whether the Awami League will participate in the election or not, said the chief advisor. But we know that there is support for that party. But do we know where they will vote? None of us know. The biggest uncertainty is that those between the ages of 18 and 25 haven’t been able to vote for 16 years. None of us know who they will vote for.
He also said, “Expatriates and young people will vote for the first time. Neither you nor I know who will vote for whom. Therefore, it is not the job of government officials to elect anyone.” It is the job of a government official to work with whoever is elected.
The meeting was attended and addressed by representatives of the army, BGB, police administration, district administration, government officials from various departments, political party representatives, journalist leaders, and civil society members of the district. Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir will leave for the capital in the afternoon after a two-day visit.
