The advisor said that the port authority has been given full responsibility for appointing a permanent operator to operate the terminal. The port authority will appoint an operator. The government has recommended giving the responsibility to the Navy to operate the NCT for 6 months.
The contract of Saif Powertech Limited, which currently operates the NCT, expires on July 6. The port authority had sought approval from the government to operate the terminal under the management of the port. He also said that from July 6, the operation of the NCT will continue under the control of the Bangladesh Navy and the work of appointing operators will continue. The port authority said that they have made a list of 150 operators to operate the NCT terminal, which they will hand over to the Navy. They have assured every worker that the government will ensure that no worker will lose his job.
