The biennial conference of the Upazila BNP and Municipal BNP is going to be held in Tungipara, Gopalganj after a long period of one and a half decades (about 17 years). Last-minute preparations are already underway for the conference, which will be held at the open space of the Tungipara Bus Terminal on Monday (June 30). Ahead of the June 30 conference, Central Volunteer Party President SM Jilani briefed journalists on the preparations for the conference and the overall situation at a press conference organized at the second floor of Tungipara Bus Terminal on Sunday (June 29) at 12 noon. At the press conference, SM Jilani said, “For 17 long years, people did not have freedom of speech. They did not have the right to vote. The common people were deprived of their democratic rights.” That’s why we couldn’t do our political practice in Tungipara. If we could do our political practice properly, you would be able to judge who has more, more, and less public support. We were deprived of the rights that our democracy, our constitution, gave us. He said that the political landscape of Bangladesh has changed through a successful mass uprising of students and the public on August 5. BNP is an election-oriented democratic political party. To continue the democratic continuity of this party, the biennial conference of Tungipara Upazila BNP and Municipal BNP is going to be held on a large scale tomorrow, Monday (June 30). BNP Vice-Chairman Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon, BNP Dhaka Division Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid, Co-Organizing Secretaries Selimuzzaman Selim and Khandaker Mashukur Rahman, along with other central leaders, will be present at the conference. He sought everyone’s full cooperation to make the conference a success. Abul Khair, Sheikh Salauddin Ahmed, joint convener Moniruzzaman Babu, municipal BNP president Emdadul Haque Molla, Md. Nasir Uddin, Samchul Haque, Sheikh Jillal Hossain, Jubo Dal president Moktar Hossain, Chhatra Dal general secretary Rahim, and local leaders of various levels of upazila and municipal BNP were present at the press conference.
