17 students deprived of HSC exam due to not receiving admit card in Jamalpur

Seventeen students of Prashanthi Ideal School and College in Doripara, the municipal town, could not participate in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in Jamalpur due to lack of admission letters. Out of these, 10 are from the science department, 4 from the humanities department and 3 from the business education department. Students protested at the college on Thursday (June 26) morning and were unable to take part in the exams. The college authorities locked the college and fled. It is known that Prashanti Ideal School and College is being run privately in Jamalpur city. Since there was no permission to conduct the examination, Prashanthi Ideal School and College Principal Rezaul Islam Selim arranged for students to take the examination from various institutions permitted by the district. This year, although 10,000 to 12,000 taka was collected from the students, they did not receive their admit and registration cards. Students and their guardians who were denied exams at that college have been protesting since morning following the incident. When I went to the college to contact the principal of Prashanthi Ideal School and College, Rezaul Islam Selim, I couldn’t find him. I called his mobile phone several times, but he didn’t pick up. District Education Officer Mozammel Hasan said, “I have heard that Prashanti Ideal School and College does not have any approval.” However, if the students had informed us about this yesterday, an arrangement could have been made. If the students contact us, we will talk to the board. If they submit a written application or complaint, necessary action will be taken in this regard. It is worth noting that this year, 26,575 students took the exam at 52 centers in the district.
