Firefighting and rescue drill held at metro rail station

Fire Service and Civil Defense conducted firefighting, rescue, first aid and evacuation drills at Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, Uttara Center, Metro Rail Station, Uttara and Bijoy Sarani. The exercise was held on June 25 at 11 am at Uttara Center and at 3 pm at Bijoy Sarani Center. Various equipment including water tenders, pump carrying tenders, scissor lifts, ambulances and snorkel vehicles were used in the exercise. The exercise demonstrates practical exercises on how to protect passengers, how to extinguish the fire, how to evacuate the general public, and how to provide first aid to the injured and send them to the hospital in the event of a sudden fire accident on the metro rail or at a metro rail station. In addition to the Fire Service and Civil Defense, Metrorail security personnel and local volunteers from the Fire Service participated in the exercise. During the exercise, members of the Metropolitan Police and Traffic Police performed other security duties, including vehicle control. At the end of the exercise, AKM Khairul Alam, Director (Administration) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, delivered a speech. At this time, Mr. Md. Saleh Uddin, Deputy Director of the Dhaka Division of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, briefed the media personnel and answered their various questions. The briefing said that the training exercise has been organized to create awareness and inform the Metro Rail authorities and the general public about what to do in the event of an actual accident. This will continue. The two exercises were conducted by Kazi Nazmuzzaman, Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Dhaka. The program was hosted by Md. Shajahan Sikder, Officer-in-Charge of the Media Cell, and AKM Raihanul Ashraf, Senior Station Officer. At that time, officials and employees of various levels, including zone heads of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited and Fire Service and Civil Defense, were present.
