Anti-corruption debate competition held in Ramu

An anti-corruption debate competition at the upazila-based secondary school-madrasa level was held in Ramu under the theme ‘A new sun will shine with the radiant signature of the anti-corruption oath’. The debate competition was held on Tuesday (June 17) in the morning with the first round and the second round in the afternoon, organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission, Integrated District Office, Cox’s Bazar. In this, Mansur Ali Sikder High School and Machumia Islamia Sunnia Alim Madrasa emerged as the group winners and qualified for the final round. Six secondary schools and two madrasas of Ramu participated in the debate competition, which was implemented by the Ramu Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee. In the debate competition organized to create a strong stance against corruption and a spirit of honesty among students, the students, teachers, guardians and other dignitaries present pledged, ‘I will not commit corruption, I will not accept corruption, I will not tolerate corruption’. ‘We will all build a country together, a corruption-free Bangladesh. In the first round of the debate competition held at Ramu Khizari Government High School on Tuesday at 10:30 am, the debaters of Group B Merangloa Rahmania Islamia Alim Madrasa participated in the support team and the debaters of Mansur Ali Sikder High School participated in the opposition team, Group C Abul Kalam Azad High School participated in the support team and the debaters of Panirchhara SHD Model High School participated in the opposition team, Group D Mashumia Islamia Chunnia Alim Madrasa participated in the support team and the debaters of Kawarkhop Hakim Rakima High School participated in the opposition team. Since the debaters of Group A  aderuzzaman High School were absent from the competition in the first round, the debaters of Jarailtoli High School were declared the winners. In the second round held in the afternoon, the debaters from Masumia Islamia Chunnia Alim Madrasa participated in the debate competition as the group winners, the debaters from Jarailtoli High School participated in the opposition team, the debaters from Mansur Ali Sikder High School participated in the opposition team, and the debaters from Abul Kalam Azad High School participated in the opposition team. In this competition, debater Mubarak Hossain, team leader of Masumia Islamia Chunnia Alim Madrasa, and debater Rezuana Mahmud Raisa, team leader of Abul Kalam Azad High School, were selected as the best speakers. Ramu Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee General Secretary Khaled Shahid said that in the final round, debaters from Mansur Ali Sikder High School will participate in the anti-corruption debate competition on the topic of ‘Corruption is the main obstacle to the development of the country’ as the pro team and debaters from Machumia Islamia Sunni Alim Madrasa will participate in the anti-corruption debate competition as the anti-corruption team. The final round of the anti-corruption debate competition at the upazila-based secondary school-madrasa level will be held at the Bankkhali auditorium of Ramu Upazila Parishad on Sunday, June 22 at 11 am.
