Sensational information has emerged about the shooting death of Md. Mamun Hossain, joint convener of the Fatulla Police Station Volunteer Party in Narayanganj. Fatullah Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shamim Hossain has been accused of arresting a man named Md. Jewel as a suspect in the murder, physically torturing and intimidating him, taking the case to a different branch, and trying to frame others.

However, after being released on bail, Jewel gave various sensational information against the police officers and those involved in the incident. Md. Jewel, the victim of the torture, filed a written complaint with the Narayanganj District Police Superintendent and the Deputy Commissioner on Monday (June 16) regarding the incident. The accused is Shamim Hossain, a sub-inspector (SI) of Fatullah Model Police Station. The complainant is Md. Jewel, a truck driver by profession.

In the written complaint, Md. Jewel said, “I am a truck driver by profession. On March 16, when I went to visit my sister’s house in Shariatpur, Fatullah Police Station SI (Sub-Inspector) Shamim Hossain arrested me as a suspect in the Mamun murder case (Case No. 9(2)25). On the way, they beat me severely with sticks in the car and interrogated me about the Mamun murder.

However, when I said, “I don’t know anything about this,” he increased the level of physical abuse against me. Later, they took me to the police station, tied my hands and feet, beat me again, and poured chili powder on my face. He even gave me an electric shock on my penis and told me to tell the court, ‘Akhtar and Suman made me do this murder.’ “But I did not agree to do this and I do not know Akhter-Sumon. Moreover, I am not involved in this murder incident.” Meanwhile, even after being in the custody of Fatullah Police Station, a man named Niaz Masum, who pretended to be a professional, beat me up in front of me by paying SI Shamim on the orders of Riyad Chowdhury.

At that time, SI Shamim beat me up and said, “He threatened to have sex with my wife if I didn’t mention Akhter-Sumon’s names in court.” Later, when I was sent to court, the court canceled the remand after hearing my statement about physical abuse. After that, when I was released on bail, I heard through various media that Fatullah’s Riyad Md. Chowdhury and Niaz Masum, a police source who introduced himself as a special profession, had planned to kill Mamun with their contract killer.

Arresting and interrogating both of them will unravel the mystery of this murder. Besides, SI Shamim has been misleading the plaintiff and trading cases by framing various innocent people as accused. It is learned that on the night of February 6, miscreants shot dead Md. Mamun Hossain (40), joint convener of the Fatulla Thana Volunteer Party in Narayanganj, on the railway line in Fatulla.

A day after the incident, the deceased’s wife, Yasmin Akhter, filed a murder case at Fatullah Model Police Station, naming 11 people as the plaintiff and 8-10 other unidentified people as accused. Police arrested Md. Jewel in that case. However, Shamim Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Fatullah Police Station, denied this and said that it is a false allegation. No one tortured him. The chargesheet in this murder case has not yet been filed.
