The quarterly meeting of the District Village Court Management Committee was held in Gopalganj. The quarterly meeting, organized by the Gopalganj district administration, was held on Sunday (June 15) morning at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room “Swachhta” and was presided over by Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman said that the activities of the village court are now running better than before. Since previously, accounting assistants/UP administrative officers of 67 unions have received 4 days of training. The quality of their documentation is also improving compared to before. He also said that the chairmen are not sitting in court regularly and judging. Therefore, they will have to sit in court regularly and be tried. He emphasized the importance of regularly inspecting the activities of the village courts to the members of the VCMC committee. Biswajit Kumar Pal, member secretary of the committee and deputy director (deputy secretary) of the local government department, said that many cases under the jurisdiction of the village court are arbitrated, as a result of which the number of cases received is comparatively low. Therefore, he emphasized the need to resolve cases under the jurisdiction of the village court through the village court rather than resorting to arbitration. Every month, the Union Parishad regularly reviews village court documents and registrars, among other tasks, and provides suggestions for better management of activities. The member secretary also said in his speech that a total of 270 cases have been filed in 67 unions in the last 3 months, out of which 37 cases have been sent from the district court to the village court. He also said that there is trust in the village courts, so cases are being sent from the high court to the village courts. He sought everyone’s cooperation in keeping the activities of the village court dynamic.
