Police have detained two people along with a pickup van loaded with Indian goods in the Muslimpur area of ​​Atpara upazila of the district. Atpara police arrested them at around 11 pm on Saturday (June 14). Police said the market value of the seized goods is around 2 lakh taka. The arrested are Mamun Mia (36), son of Saidur Rahman of Ishwarganj Upazila of Mymensingh district, and Chandan Mia (27), son of Fazlur Rahman of Nandail Upazila of Mymensingh district. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Atpara Police Station, said, “Based on a secret tip-off, we conducted a raid and arrested a pick-up truck loaded with Indian goods and two people.” Legal proceedings are underway on the matter. Meanwhile, locals have raised questions about how a large amount of Indian goods entered Atpara through the border area of ​​Kalmakanda, eluding the BGB. Conscious citizens believe that the incident indicates administrative negligence.
