Jamaat-e-Islami road rally attacked, clash, 7 injured in Araihazar

There have been allegations that local BNP leaders and activists attacked a street rally of the Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami in Araihazar, Narayanganj.
Seven Jamaat leaders and activists were injured in the attack. Several mobile phones were also snatched during the attack. The incident took place in the Gahardi area of ​​Mahmudpur union of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Motahar Hossain, former Ameer of the South Jamaat-e-Islami of Araihazar, said that in the afternoon, the Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami was attacked in the Badsha Bari area of ​​Gahardi.
During the road meeting and mass communication, 12/13 people including local BNP leaders Shahjahan Shikari, Shahparan Shikari, Shahjalal Shikari suddenly stopped the road meeting with sticks. This led to an argument between the two sides. At one stage, the attackers injured Jamaat Islam President Hafez Mahbubur Rahman of Ward No. 8 of Mahmudpur Union, Jamaat workers Asadullah, Kausar, Alauddin, Osman, Nuru Mia and Alauddin by randomly punching and beating them. Among them, the injured Hafez Mahbubur Rahman has been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. The rest have been released after receiving primary treatment. Meanwhile, the police have visited the scene after receiving information about the attack.
When contacted on his mobile phone, Araihazar Upazila BNP President Yusuf Ali Bhuiyan said, “Jamaat Islami was holding a road rally with those who had tortured us during the previous Awami League era. That’s why our people stopped us. There was a little bit of arguing and pushing during that time. Nothing major happened.”
In this regard, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mehedi Islam said, “The police immediately went to the spot after receiving the news. I heard that the Jamaat-e-Islami program went well. The police did not find any incident of fighting. If anyone complains on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, legal action will be taken.”
