4 rare parrot fish caught in fishing nets at sea

Four rare species of parrot fish have been caught in the net of a fisherman named Abu Salek (40) in the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata in Patuakhali.
The fish were brought to the Alipur Fisheries Landing Center around 11 am on Thursday. Earlier, on Wednesday, these fish were caught in the net of the fisherman in the last buoy area of Payra Port in the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata.
Last night, he went fishing in the sea with 17 fishermen on a trawler named Allah Doa-4 from Banshkhali, Chittagong.
The four fish weighed 5 kg. After the fish were brought, an eager crowd gathered at the stall to take a look. Later, a wholesale fish merchant named Abdullah bought these fish at an auction along with large poya fish for 500 taka per kg.
Although the fish is locally called Tia, its scientific name is Scarus jufar. The fish is not commonly seen in Bangladesh.
These fish are found in the southern coastal waters of Oman and were identified in 1995, according to the Fisheries Department.
