The 58-day ban on all types of fishing in the sea will end at midnight on Wednesday to ensure proper reproduction and production of fish, conservation of fish resources, and sustainable fishing in marine waters.
The fishermen on the coast have completed all preparations to go out to sea to fish. They will leave the ghat and set sail for the sea on Wednesday evening, the fishermen said.
It has been reported that the government has banned fishing of any species by all types of fishing vessels in the sea for 58 days from April 15 to June 11 to ensure proper reproduction and production of fish in marine waters, conservation of marine fish resources, and sustainable fishing.
The ban will end at midnight on Wednesday. Already, 8,799 fishermen in the coastal region of Taltali have made all preparations to go fishing in the sea. They have completed their market transactions, including repairing their trawlers, weaving nets.
The fishermen said they would leave the coast in the evening. They would cast their nets in the sea at their designated spot as soon as midnight struck, fishermen Kanchan Ali, Barek and Razzak said.

Grocery shop owner Safez Mia said, “The ban is over. Fishermen are bargaining in the market to go to sea. Sales are very good.”
Rahim Mia, a Bismillah trawler from Fakirhat area, said, “We have made all preparations to go fishing in the sea. We will go fishing in the sea as soon as the ban period ends.”
Fishermen Nursaid and Forkan Mia said they have not been able to fish in the sea for the last 58 days due to the ban.
That time was spent with a lot of hardship with my family. I borrowed a lot of money during that time. Now I will go to the sea in the hope of getting good fish. Let’s see if God allows me to pay off the debt.
Fishermen Md. Alamgir Hawlader and Sabuj Mia from the Tentulbaria area of the upazila said, “The ban is over, we have prepared to go to sea.”
Sonakata UP member Fakirhat Fisheries Association leader Tuku Sikder said, “Fishermen in 600 trawlers have made all preparations to go fishing in the sea. I hope that the fishermen will catch good fish in their nets in the sea.”
Taltali Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Victor Bain said the ban will end at midnight (Wednesday).
There are no restrictions on fishermen fishing in the sea after midnight.
