In Atpara Upazila of the district, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir and former president of the district camp, Md. Yusuf (37), was attacked. He was beaten with a stick and a sharp weapon, breaking one of his hands and bleeding profusely from his head. His nephew Ayatullah (25), who was with him, was seriously injured. A case has been filed with the police station on behalf of Md. Yusuf in this incident.
The accused are, A. Razzak’s son Md. Monowar Hossain (32), Khokon Mia’s son Md. Abdur Rakib (30), Abdul Motalib alias Senchu Mia’s son Md. Sarwar Member (40), deceased Helim’s son Md. Zakirul (30), Md. Rehan Mia’s son Md. Roni Mia (32), Md. Abul Basar’s son Md. Inzamam (20), Abdul Hannan’s son Nadir Mia (28), Md. Rafiq Talukder’s son Md. Emon Talukder (35), Hannan Talukder’s son Didar Talukder (30). They are all residents of Tenga village in Atpara upazila.
On Tuesday (June 10), Atpara Police Station OC Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman confirmed the case and said that the incident took place over a business dispute. Police operations are continuing to arrest the accused.
It is learned that on June 8, the accused, led by Sarwar, Monowar and Zakirul, entered the plaintiff’s own business establishment ‘Tasfia Electric and Electronics’ in Teligati Bazar of the upazila and carried out an ambush.
Netrokona District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Maulana Sadeq Ahmad Haris and General Secretary Professor Maulana Mahbubur Rahman, and Netrokona-3 (Kendua-Atpara) constituency Jamaat nominee Md. Delwar Hossain Saiful, as well as Atpara Upazila Jamaat leaders, have condemned and protested against this incident.
A group of terrorists carried out a planned attack on Md. Yusuf. In this, Md. Yusuf and his nephew were seriously injured. The leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami strongly condemned and protested the attack and called on the law enforcement agencies to quickly arrest the attackers and provide appropriate punishment.
