The lifeblood of rural Bengal, Ha-Du-Du, seems to be getting lost in the current of modernity. Yet this game was once a roaring game of young boys and girls in the fields of rural Bengal.

To bring back that lost tradition, a Ha-Du-Du competition was organized in Rupganj, Narayanganj on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

This lively game was organized by the Dakshinbagh Youth Society on Sunday (June 08) afternoon at the Bagber Balu field of the upazila. Two local teams—Megh Malla and Dalchut—participated in it.
In a very exciting match in a packed field, the Megh Malla team defeated Dalchut by 1-0 points and won the crown of victory.

After the game, social worker Manjurul Ahsan, advocate Kabir Hossain, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, Md. Lutfar Rahman and teacher Rabiul Islam.

Social worker Manjurul Ahsan said, “Ha-du-du is one of the games that have been lost in the hustle and bustle of the city.
There is no alternative to sports to keep our youth away from drugs and bad culture.”

Advocate Kabir Hossain said, “Although it is our national game, the current generation’s interest in Kabaddi is decreasing.
If such an event is organized regularly, that interest will return.”

There was joy and excitement among the spectators who came to watch the game. Local resident Abul Kashem said, “I saw such a game after many years. It is as if the joy of Eid has returned anew.”

Senior Nur Mohammad said, this game was once our childhood companion.
Seeing it again today brought tears to my eyes.”

5th grade student Tajmin Jahan Rafa said, “I have never seen such a game before. This is the first time I liked it very much. This event will increase our interest in sports.
We want such a tournament to be held every year.”

Sponsor Md. Rashidul Islam said, “Today’s game has united everyone in the area. From children to the elderly, everyone is happy.
This is the real beauty of the village.
There was a festive atmosphere throughout the playground. The entire field was filled with applause, enthusiasm, and shouting. Many said that if such events are held regularly during Eid days, the youth of the area will develop a positive spirit.
